IF YOU DID NOT COMPLETE THE REQUESTED LEAD SERVICE LINE QUESTIONNAIRE, PLEASE READ THIS NOTICE IN ITS ENTIRETY
This notice is to advise you that we did not receive a completed questionnaire from you as previously requested. The questionnaire is needed to identify your service line from the water meter to the inlet of your home or whatever the meter is connected to (example; water hydrant, livestock waterer, barn, etc.).
We are required by the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, and Missouri Department of Natural Resources, DNR, to collect this information to help identify any lead service lines that may be in homes or in the ground that are used for water consumption.
Because we did not receive this information from you, we had to report to DNR that your water service line is unknown. Having an unknown service line requires the water district to send the enclosed notification about the hazards of a lead service line. Please click here to read notification. Unknown Service Line Notification. We are required to continuously send this notification until the service line material is identified.
We are asking that you please complete the Lead Service Line Questionnaire at this link Service Line Questionnaire. By completing the questionnaire with the material of your service line, we will credit your account $20.00, if there has not been a previous credit given for your location.
The federal government banned use of leaded pipe and solder in new plumbing in 1986 and Missouri’s lead ban became effective January 1, 1989. Public Water Supply District #2 has NO lead lines installed within the district therefore, the supply of water being delivered has NO lead in it. Our reason for outreach is to help determine if YOUR water lines in YOUR home or from YOUR meter to YOUR residence has a possibility of containing lead. Potential of lead contamination is NOT from the water district's main lines, but could be within your residence or service line.
Ask yourself the following questions to help determine your exposure.
Do any of the following apply to you?
- Were your water lines to your home installed prior to 1986 and made of copper with lead solder?
- Are your water faucets older than 1989?
- Is your service line from the meter to your home or lines within the home, lead water lines?
If you answered NO to these three questions, there is no concern for lead in your customer supplied water line. However, we are still required to submit the service line material to DNR.
